Recognizing the Role of Fathers

The third Sunday in June is set aside every year to honor fathers. It’s a day to not only recognize biological fathers, but also the men in our lives who have provided “fatherly” love, influence, support and guidance. For those who have their fathers and the dads out there who will enjoy special time with their families today, this is a day of celebration of all the wonderful gifts that fathers offer their own children and the community at large.While this is a joyful day for many, for others, today can be a tough one. For some who have lost or perhaps never knew their fathers due to any number of circumstances, Father’s Day can bring sadness and pain. A book by a Taunton author who grew up without a father, relates the stories of those who missed that influence in their lives. “I have seen the repercussions of life without a father,” said Taunton author Millie Hull, who has previously authored a Christian children’s book. “There are a lot of single-family households now and the children are really hurting.”..Click here to continue reading.
